Cinnamon's

Ok so I had to go to Kailua to run some errands and I this place was right next tot the building I went to. I then realized that this was the place I've been wanting to try. They are the only place in Hawaii that I know of with RED VELVET pancakes :) When we got there around 11am there were so many people there we had to wait a good 20 mins before getting seated. So we took the time to check the menu out and the specials for the day.
hmmmm blueberry pancakes YUMMM! Carrot pancakes cool, I want to try
Checked the menu out, and checked our neighbors plates too and made our decision lol
We wanted to at least try one thing from the different sections of the menu so we ordered
8/10
Macadamia nut cinnamon roll Roxy saw this old lady next to us eating this and she was like...I want that lol It was really good. Not as good as Cinnabon in my own opinion but it was good.

8/10
Blueberry, walnut cream cheese pancakes
This was good but not as good as my...
RED VELVET pancakes :) OMG so good melt in your mouth good
10/10

You know me and my LOX I had to have me some on my egg benedict and also tried a Kalua pig one too
This went well with the pancakes...so good!!
10/10

And last we chose an omelette a chinese one w/shredded roasted chicken, char siu and a medley of vegetables in it I give this a 9/10

Again this went well w/the pancakes

All in all I'm really glad I got to try this place. It exceeded my expectations especially the star of the show the red velvet pancakes. I'd totally go there again for the red velvet pancakes and egg benedicts which were my fav part of the meal.

Good eating to you this weekend :)

Frost City

So, this was just another one of those places that I had to try and when I was in the area I had to stop by. This place closes on Mondays and every time I was in the area it happened to be a Monday :( So this was an exciting day of course.

I took all the kids in, nephew and sister-in-laws and we had a view of the menu
Of course I asked the lady at the counter what her favs were and with her help I made my decisions
We started off with watermelon...to too sweet you can taste the watermelon juices it was refreshing
Strawberry was nice and light tasted just like frozen yogurt
Pineapple was my favorite besides the fact that I love pineapple anything....it was PERFECT! It should be called pineapple dream lol

Then I saw a mango drink called the mango pomelo some kind of chinese drink w/tapioca balls, grapefruit, mango juice, mango chunks and milk. I'm sure there are other ingredients but, I really don't care it tastes great.

This is the second place I have tried like this and I like the differences of the places. This place seems to have smaller portions for the same amount of money as the other so....I'm glad I tried this place but next time if I feel like eating this again I'll probably go back to Snow Factory because of their portion size.

Have you found a new place to try yet?? What you waiting for?? Get out there!!

Happy eating!!!

Tasty
Asian
Tacos
Eatery

Ok so I stopped by this place on my home one day and I was so excited to see that they were still open. You see they are normally open from 11-2pm or something like that and I happened to pass this place at 4pm and was excited to see them still open. When I ordered my food I asked why they were still open and they said they only stay open until they are done prepping for the next day so I guess it was my lucky day huh lol

This is my second asian taco place I've tried ever and when I saw that there menu was different from the other place I tried I had to try.....well, EVERYTHING :) and so I did!!
Check the prices out not bad right?? I thought so...
I have listed my FAV taco down to my least favorite

In 1st place I have the Shrimp 10/10 for sure honey wasabi what??? This was amazing!!
2nd Mahi Mahi I love Miso and ginger and it went perfectly w/the fresh mahi
3rd CharSiu
4th chicken
5th surprisingly was the rib eye which let me down because there was no taste...it needed salt, sauce...something it was so bland

All in all my experience with this place was that it was lacking. I know they were prepping for the next day when I got there, I kept in mind that I was the only customer there and I felt that it could've been better. The tortilla itself wasn't warm but, the meat was, the coleslaw was cold so when you put it together it didn't taste....how can I put it, at its best. I thought it could've been better. From what I tasted I hope to come back to this place and taste their BEST. I have hopes for this place and I'm going to stay optimistic until otherwise.

Happy eating :)

JJ Bistro & French Pastry

Ok so I randomly went to this place this past week BUT, I've been wanting to go to this place for a while since I saw they served a 4 course meal for only $19.95/$24.70. Sounds like a real good deal right?? Well if you are coming to eat "sample size" meals this is the place for you. This place has laotian flare and french inspiration and well the creator is GENIUS in my eyes.

I didn't know what I wanted to eat and well I just wanted to "sample" well, anything so I asked the guy at the counter what the most popular dish was and he told me it was the Fisherman Pot Pie: Assortment of salmon, scallop, shrimp, Bamboo, Eggplant, Red bell pepper & Zucchini with green curry sauce, served on puff pastry shell. $12.95 so I got it
It was really yummy but it is TINY....If I were to rate this based on flavor I'd give it a 10 out of 10 size I'd give it a 6 out of 10

and then I saw the display of all the desserts and I just had to try something......so I got a few things: 1st place. chocolate pyramid(they are known for this), 2nd mocha cheesecake and in 3rd a red velvet cheesecake.  Next time I'm going to try more lol
Here is a better view of the chocolate pyramid
By far one of the most unique desserts I've ever had....a MUST try for all you chocolate lovers :) One comes in a sample size for $.99 then there is a medium size for $4.95 and they have bigger ones for bday cakes but I don't know the prices on those. You have to try this!

I also got an appetizer
This was the Bake Lobster on French Bread: served with Avocado sauce and salad. $7.95. It was another TINY dish but it was yummy I'd give it a 8 out of 10.

I couldn't really dine in because I had all my kids, 2 sister-in-laws and a nephew so I ordered out but when I get the chance to go back I'm totally going to try more things :) It was a nice introduction to the restaurant and I'm glad I stumbled upon it. Its a cute place for girlfriends to get together and you almost feel like your in France w/the great ambiance they have there. The service was good I can't really complain about the place. I'll be going there again some time. Hope you enjoyed this post Happy eating yall ;)

Cafe Maharani

2509 S King St
HonoluluHI 96826
(808) 951-7447

So, I finally was able to come to Cafe Maharani. My brother had his bday last year and because he was away on a debate tournament for school we weren't able to go eat out with him. When he finally had time we all made time to come to this place that he wanted to go back and try. I was so excited because I heard so many good reviews about this place and with the good there is the bad and I also was a little skeptical because of the negative reviews.

If it is your first time here you'll probably park further than you should which was ME in this case lol But, after eating all that food it was worth the little work out I got walking back. Its a fairly small restaurant and so if you blink....you'll miss the place no, SERIOUSLY lol Make sure if you ever get the chance to go you turn right before Subway(which is right next door to it) and park in the back. If you miss the turn take the next right which will also lead you to the back parking if there are no stalls available than your going to have to look for a stall along the road some where.

When you walk in its nice and cozy, you can smell the aroma of the Indian spices and the fresh naan cooking in the back. There utensils are so cool looking lol
I totally wanted to take the cups home with me lol I felt like I was feasting in Egypt or something
mango lassi in the coolest cup right? lol

I know you can't tell from my empty plate but these plates were really heavy made out of some kind of hard core material that was surprisingly heavy. My brother passed it across the table to me and I swear I almost dropped it lol So keep that in mind and also I wanted to take one home

Ok so we tried the vegetarian platter that gets a rating of 10/10
I LOVED everything about this platter...SERIOUSLY!!! I don't really remember the names of the items but they were so yummy. The one at the top that looks like a cracker tortilla was a light and crisp yet salty treat that went so well with the "indian pot pie" well thats what I call the item right under the cracker. The other item was like a Indian veggie hush puppy lol Like I said I LOVED it and would've have been happy with 2 trays and a cup of water lol

The next we had a meat platter that had chicken, beef and some kind of sausage or something I gave this a 6/10 not too crazy about the meat which I actually found a little dry and not so great tasting but worth trying if you want to taste their meat and the different spices they use. Some meats are a little spicy and well some are just plain *BLEH* spit back on your plate lol

Next we started ordering the "main event" the curry lol We first got the sea bass curry and butter chicken curry that was rated at 10/10 BOMB.COM!!!! The fish just melted in your mouth and the flavors in the curry were just unbelievable! It tasted so fresh and rich I almost felt like I was in India well besides looking up and I'd see an Indian guy here or there every 5 mins lol

Next on the curry list we had a salmon curry. Oh WOW good! I love salmon and this one was like "buttah" lol Another melt in your mouth swimming in this rich decadent Indian Ocean of delight
This last curry we got was supposedly the "kid friendly" curry. It was another seafood curry that had shrimp in it and wasn't supposed to be too spicy. This one was my FAVORITE!!! Check out how it looked like it came to our table. It was like a dreamy mushroom.....w/a nice surprise inside :) check it out as I scooped an opening to peek inside
check out that cheddar swimming at the top right under the fresh irresistible dough that EVERYONE at our table was just grabbing at trying to get a taste of the warm morsel.
See how rich and creamy that sauce is....besides the shrimp it had some veggies and sundried tomatoes in it....YUMMY! You see the rim of bread around the dish well after this pics it went gone real quick. I kept telling my family DON"T touch until I at least get one pics lol

Next week had another appetizer
Our family loves Eggplant and so when we saw it on the menu we couldn't resist. It was good, nothing great about it but good

We got sides like the MUST EAT: Garlic Naan
Oh man orgasmic bread for reals you'll be in flour heaven lol 20/20 above and beyond my expectations!

and Coconut rice
I normally don't like coconut flakes in anything but I heard great reviews about this rice and had to try it and boy was I happy I tried it. 10/10 for this!!

I always have a great time trying out a new restaurant. I'm so glad I found this little Gem :) When are you going to try a new restaurant?? Get out there and let your taste buds explore a little ;)

Happy Eating!!

Gogi Korean Taco Truck

This was actually the same day as La Tour Cafe but after and just to grab a few before heading home. You see, this place usually only opens at lunch or what ever they twitter for the day(which is where they will be)  Anyways every time I come to town to see if they are open, they aren't so when I realized that it was around 11am and I was in the area I was like YAYUH!!!!! I saw this truck on the Food Network in California and when I found out that there was one in Hawaii I was like I've got to TRY this place out because I love KOREAN FOOD!!!

So, we stopped and I hopped out to check it out. The parking was great and not too hard to find of course its on Kapiolani Blvd so it was right next to an adult store and a couple of strip joints but other than that GREAT lol
Lots of people in line so it took about 10 mins to get my food but well worth the wait

Here is the menu and because I just finished eating at La Tour Cafe I was already full but just ordered enough for me to try them out

I got a spicy bbq pork taco and 2 short rib tacos
Then a bi bim short rib burrito

YUMMMY!! I didn't even get to taste everything I wanted to try :( I was so full but on the way home I was able to taste some and wished I had ordered more. I will be going back and when I do I'm ordering MORE :)
If you like korean food you have to try this place the prices are really good.

Happy eating yall!
